It's wild being a human... and being a human with a body that needs care, and check-ups, and maintenance can feel like a full time job.
Every week I take discovery calls with men and women who are looking to be relived from the health noise and to have some of the health responsibilities taken off their plates so that they can live their lives with greater vitality.
On a discovery call this week, a woman arrived already exhausted.
Not from the cardiologist appointment she'd had at 7am.
Or from the meal she skipped at breakfast and replaced with a protein shake she'd grabbed in the parking lot.
Or from the gym session before that.
She was exhausted from the carrying.
She had a cardiologist for one part of her body. A personal trainer for another. A nutritionist for something else. A functional medicine doctor for the things the others couldn't see. A naturopath she'd added in the spring. A pelvic floor PT she'd added in the fall.
And in the middle of all of them — her.
Translating.
The cardiologist wanted her resting heart rate lower. The trainer wanted her pushing harder. The nutritionist had her tracking protein and steps. The functional medicine doctor had her on a supplement protocol that contradicted the nutritionist's macro plan. The naturopath had pulled her thyroid panel and was raising questions about the cardiologist's beta blocker. The pelvic floor PT had concerns about the way she was bracing during heavy lifts.
And none of them had ever spoken to each other.
She was the only one in the room who knew the whole story.
And she was the only one without a degree to make sense of it.
I feel like I'm running five different programs at the same time, she said. And none of them know I'm in the other ones.
She started to cry.
So did I, a little.
She wasn't tired from her just her conditions.
She was tired from the project management.
This is something I see almost every week now, and I want to name it because very few in the wellness world says it out loud.
The modern health system has quietly handed you the job of being your own integrator.
Your own translator. Your own holistic practitioner — the one who sees the through-line nobody else is paid to see.
Your cardiologist sees your heart.
Your trainer sees your reps.
Your nutritionist sees your macros.
Your functional medicine doctor sees your labs.
And you?
You see everything.
You are the only one who knows that the supplement the FM doc added in March may be the reason your sleep got worse in April. You are the only one who knows the deficit your nutritionist put you in is why your strength in your trainer's program stopped progressing. You are the only one who knows the cardiologist's medication is changing how you metabolize the food the nutritionist is prescribing.
And you carry it all.
In a binder. In a notes app. In your head, at 2am.
That carrying is invisible labor.
It is also one of the most exhausting things a person can do.
The nervous system can only hold so much.

When she described all of this to me, I saw a picture in my mind.
She was standing in a long hallway with five doors. Each door opened into a room where a credentialed person was waiting to address one part of her.
But there was no living room.
There was no kitchen table where all of them sat together and looked at her — the whole of her.
She was the kitchen table.
She was the one moving from room to room with the notes from the last one.
She was the one trying to make her body make sense to people who were only ever looking at part of it.
This is not her failing.
This is the model failing her.
Because you are not five patients. You are one human And the parts of you are not on separate floors. Your cortisol is in conversation with your blood sugar. Your blood sugar is in conversation with your sleep. Your sleep is in conversation with your nervous system. Your nervous system is in conversation with the way you eat, the way you train, the way you cycle, the way you grieve, the way you mother, the way you love.
You are an ecosystem.
And the moment we start treating you like a list of problems for a list of specialists, we lose the very thing that could heal you, which is coherence.
I want to tell you why we built what we built.
The Green Door Life is not just nutrition.
It is not just strength training.
It is not just somatics.
It is not just mindset.
It is not just community.
It is not just belonging.
It is all of it.
In one container.
With practitioners who actually speak to each other.
When you start the Awaken Your Nutrition program, your coach is not handing you a meal plan and disappearing. She is in a conversation with the strength training team about how your lifts are progressing. She is paying attention to your sleep, your stress, your cycle, your medications, your seasons. She is asking about your kids, your job, the time you go to bed, the conversations you've been avoiding.
She is not seeing you in a room with one door.
She is seeing you at the kitchen table.
This is what holistic actually means. Not a buzzword. Not a vibe. A way of looking.
It means we look at your lifestyle. Your schedule. The hour you wake up and the hour you fall asleep. The medications you are on and the ones you've been on. Whether your movement feels good in your body in this season of your life — not in the body you had at 28. The stress no one is metabolizing with you. The environments you spend your hours in. Whether you're navigating PCOS or hypothyroidism or perimenopause or autoimmunity or grief.
Whether you've been on keto.
Or pro-metabolic.
Or intermittent fasting.
Or Whole30.
Or all of them, stacked, for the last decade.
We look at all of it.
Because all of it is you.

Here is the other thing I want to name.
Most people, when they come to us, are not actually looking for transformation.
They are looking for a protocol they can finish.
A diet they can complete.
A plan they can execute.
A 30-day, a 60-day, a 75-day, a New Year's resolution, a wedding prep, a summer prep, a bounce-back.
They have been trained by an entire industry to think of their health as a project with a start date and an end date.
So when they arrive at Awaken Your Nutrition, they often arrive with the same lens. Just tell me what to do for the next twelve weeks and then I'll be done.
And we have to, very gently, reframe.
Because the body you are building is the body you are going to live in for the next thirty, forty, fifty years.
Your hormones don't care about a 75-day challenge.
Your nervous system doesn't respond to a deadline.
Your relationship with food is not going to be repaired in a sprint.
What you are actually doing — even if you don't know it yet — is laying down a way of living that will carry you through every chapter your body has not yet entered.
The cycle that's coming.
The pregnancy that might.
The perimenopause that will.
The decade you'll spend caring for an aging parent.
The decade you'll spend caring for grown children.
The decade you'll spend caring for yourself in a way no one else can.
This is not a 12-week problem.
This is a lifetime way of being.
And this is the part I want you to hear most.
What you build inside of this work — you do not only build for yourself.
You build it for the people who watch you eat.
You build it for the people who watch you train.
You build it for the people who watch you rest.
You build it for the children who are quietly learning, every day, what it means to live inside a body.
The greatest inheritance you can give them is not a body type.
It is not a discipline.
It is not a number on a scale.
It is intuition.
The capacity to listen to the signals your body is sending.
The capacity to pay attention instead of brushing it off.
The capacity to know that the fatigue, the bloat, the irritability, the wakefulness at 3am — these are not problems to medicate into silence.
They are information.
And the woman, or the man, who learns to read that information — that is the parent your children will get to have.
That is the legacy.
This is why, when someone comes to The Green Door Life, we almost always start them in Awaken Your Nutrition.
Not because nutrition is the only thing.
Because nutrition is the doorway through which everything else becomes visible.
When you start paying attention to what you eat, you start paying attention to when. When you start paying attention to when, you start paying attention to why. And from there — the whole ecosystem becomes available to you.
We do not meet with you once a week and disappear.
We do not hand you a meal plan and a checklist.
There are daily check-ins. There is a private community. There is a coach paying attention to you, not just to your macros. There is a team in conversation about your progress. There is a container that holds you the way the modern health system never could.
Because we are not running five rooms.
We are sitting at the kitchen table.
With you.
This week's episode of Elevated Frequency introduces you to Sarah Eliot — one of our newest coaches at The Green Door Life — in the next installment of our Coach Spotlight series.
We sat down to talk about exactly this. The integration. The unwinding of decades of fragmented advice. The deep listening that becomes possible once the chaos finally quiets.
If you've ever felt like the woman in the hallway with five doors, Sarah is going to feel like someone who actually understands what you've been carrying.

If something in this letter struck you — if you read about the woman on the discovery call and recognized yourself...
Let's sit at the kitchen table together.
This is exactly what we do.
This is exactly who we built it for.
[Book your application call →]
We'll talk about where you are, where you actually want to go, and whether this container is the right one to carry you there.
Our doors are open for you and we can't wait to sit at the table alongside you.
Physiology over panic. Data over drama.
With you,
Shannon
