On the last family vacation we ever took...

Uncategorized Oct 22, 2026

I want to tell you about a vacation.

I was thirteen. My parents took my brother and me to Club Med — the last family trip we would take together. None of us knew it at the time. The seven-year quiet unraveling of their marriage had already started, somewhere underneath the surface, in the way only children can feel and not yet name.

But the week itself — that I remember clearly.

What I remember is a place where people who had nothing in common except that they had all arrived in the same room learned, very quickly, how to be together. People from countries I had never been to. People who spoke languages I had never heard. People with bodies and ages and stories that did not match mine. And every day, we made things together. Played together. Ate together. Learned each other's names and then each other's laughs and then, by the end of the week, each other.

I did not have language for it then. I have language for it now.

That week, in the middle of a family that was slowly, gently, falling apart, I was shown a map. A picture of what life could feel like when the differences between people stopped being walls and started being doorways. When the room itself became the medicine.

I have spent every year of my adult life trying to find my way back to that map.

Everything I have ever built has been an attempt to draw it

When I look back at what I have created — the group containers and circles, the somatic work, the years of teaching and leading, the body processes, the late nights with men and women in tears on the other side of a screen — I see one through line. Not a business. Not a brand. A map.

The map of a room where people get to be together, fully, without performing. Where the differences don't have to be smoothed out. Where the work itself is the togetherness.

The Green Door Life has been that map for years now, in many shapes. But somewhere in the last season, I started to feel a longing that I could not quite name.

I had been standing at the front of the stage for a long time. I am good at that. It is part of what I came here to do, and I love it.

But there is another part of me — the thirteen-year-old part, maybe — who did not want to be at the front of the stage anymore. Who wanted to be next to everyone. Who wanted to be led, as much as she wanted to lead. Who wanted to learn from the brilliant, lived, irreducible wisdom that every single person walking through the green door brings with them.

I understand the place of leadership. I understand the place of facilitation. I have offered both for a long time.

But I also understand, now, the deep gift of being led by the ones I lead.

What the recent founders' Belonging Blueprint showed me

The first Belonging Blueprint cohort was the beginning of this turn. Forty people, four weeks, the eight Belonging Archetypes laid out like a map of the survival strategies we have all worn at one time or another — the Caretaker, the Pleaser, the Achiever, the Controller, the Performer, the Entertainer, the Lone Wolf, the Invisible One.

We did not study these patterns as flaws. We met them as brilliance. The way the nervous system, very early, learned how to keep us safe and connected. The reason we are still here.

What I did not expect was how much the room would teach me.

I expected the work to land. It did. But I did not expect the way one person's honesty would crack the door open for someone else's. I did not expect the way nine of the forty would, at the end of four weeks, write back to us with reflections that — when I read them — made me cry.

I want to share a few of those reflections with you, with their permission. Not as testimonials. As community.

"Home is within myself. I felt a huge shift — from a deep, gaping black hole, to a warm pot-bellied stove in the coziest of caverns." —

"It starts in the body. That was a game changer. I realize how much I'd shut down my own body's conversation with myself. I'm listening now." —

"My body and mind are brilliant — they have protected me, to great heights, to keep me from hurt and grief." —

"I've started to trust myself — and understand that I'm not broken." —

"The sacred source. And community. Always community — and now, source. Such an amazing sense of source. It's grounding me." — Meredith

The room held forty people, but each person walked through a doorway that only they could see. That is the work. The eight archetypes are not a personality test. They are a map for the part of you that has been carrying you all this time, and the part of you that is finally, gently, ready to be carried too.

What's next — the ongoing Belonging Circle

The Belonging Blueprint as an intensive container will return in a couple of months. But the work — the actual practice of being human, together — does not wait that long. So we are opening The Belonging Circle as an ongoing monthly membership, beginning now.

Circle is not a course. It is not a curriculum to complete. It is a room. A living, monthly community space where we keep moving through the territory of being human, one theme at a time, together. Each month opens a new doorway. Each month is its own complete invitation.

You do not need to have done the Blueprint to belong here. You only need to be willing to show up — sometimes leading, sometimes being led, sometimes simply listening to what someone else's experience opens in you.

This is the closest thing I know to that map I was given at thirteen.

What the rhythm looks like

We meet weekly. Every week of the month carries the same three-call shape, so the rhythm becomes a body you can rely on.

Tuesday evenings — separate spaces for men and women (5:00 – 6:30 PM CST)

The week opens with two parallel circles, held in the way each one needs to be held.

•   The Men's Call, led by   — a steady, grounded space for men to meet themselves and each other, without the performance the rest of the world asks of them.

•   The Women's Call, led by   — the women's circle work I have been holding for years, now woven directly into the monthly theme.

•  Weekly Fascia Flow, led by   - the perfect place to move energy and emotion through the body from each weeks explorations

• Monthly Guest Speakers, with international facilitators providing new and unique perspectives of being human each month.

Thursday afternoons — the Everyone Call (12:00 – 1:30 PM CST)

Mid-week, the whole community gathers — all bodies, all genders, all stages of the work — to bring what surfaced on Tuesday into a wider conversation. This is the call where the spiral really opens. Where the women hear what the men have been turning over, and the men hear what the women have been holding, and the entire field gets larger because of it.

Between the calls — the community keeps breathing.

Our live chat space inside the Belonging community is alive between sessions. Conversations begun on Tuesday continue all week. Insights, integrations, questions, small wins — they don't have to wait for the next call. Community is the practice.

Every call is recorded. Life happens. You will miss some. The recordings are yours, in the library, for whenever you can return to them.

Written material every week. For those who want something to ground the conversation — to return to after, to underline and annotate and carry into your week — we publish written teachings throughout the month, designed to support and deepen what we are exploring together. You do not have to engage with the material to belong here. But it's there, for the part of you that wants the map in your hands.

The next doorway: the masculine & feminine currents

Our first theme inside the Circle is one I have been turning toward for a long time — the masculine and feminine directions that move through every body, every relationship, every moment of every day.

Not as gender. Not as identity. As the two great currents of how we live.

The feminine is depth. The way we receive. The way we hold. The way we nurture, and gestate, and listen. The undercurrent that gathers experience into wisdom.

The masculine is direction. The way we reach. The way we build. The way we protect, and articulate, and act on what we love. The vector that turns devotion into form.

We lead with one. We follow with the other. We give from one, we receive through the other. We nurture in one shape, we protect in another. And most of us, somewhere along the way, were taught to honor one and quietly exile the other.

The work over the next month inside Circle is to meet both — slowly, somatically, in real time — and to begin recovering the full range of how each one moves through us.

The doorway is a new quiz we built just for this cycle.

Then come into Circle to bring what surfaces. Because every person who walks through the door arrives with their own irreplaceable angle on the work. And as each one shares, the map of what it means to be human expands a little wider for all of us.

That is the part I cannot wait for.

A small confession that feels really good to name..

I am not coming into this Circle as someone who has already arrived. I am coming as someone who is also learning. Someone who is also turning these patterns over in her own hands. Someone who is in her own spiral — her own work with depth and direction, her own discovery of which currents she has been overusing and which ones have been waiting for her attention.

The most beautiful thing I have learned in twenty years of facilitating spaces is that the room is always smarter than the teacher. The wisdom is in the circle. My job is just to hold a doorway open and let it move.

If something in these words lands somewhere tender — that is not an accident. That is the invitation, already speaking. Come in.
