Hi Green Door Life Community!
For the last several months, many of our newsletters have explored the principles that guide our work at The Green Door Life—nutrition, movement, metabolism, nervous system regulation, relationships, and the lifelong process of becoming more fully ourselves.
But today, I want to introduce you to one of the people who helps bring those principles to life every single day.
Because while frameworks matter, inside the Green Door...people matter more.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is having a front-row seat to the remarkable humans who make up our coaching team.
This week on the Elevated Frequency Podcast, I sat down with one of our newest Green Door Life coaches,
And what unfolded was one of those conversations that stays with you long after it ends.
Before we dive in, I want to invite you to listen to this week's Elevated Frequency Podcast conversation with Tovara Salley.
In this episode, we explore:
• Weight gain and body image
• Career reinvention and finding purpose
• Anxiety, hypervigilance, and healing
• Navigating major health challenges
• Weaning off SSRIs
• What it means to support others while still walking your own path
It's an honest conversation about transformation—not as a destination, but as a lifelong journey.

Most people don't struggle because they lack information.
We live in a world overflowing with health advice. More podcasts, diets, workout plans and opinions. Not to mention the studies that change with each focus group that may or may not be specific to you.
Yet despite having more information than ever before, many people still feel stuck.
Why?
From my perspective, it's because life is rarely as simple as the advice we're given.
Maybe you're navigating a career transition, or recovering from surgery, or planning to have a baby, or caring for aging parents, or raising your children while trying not to lose yourself in the process.
Maybe your body has changed, maybe your confidence has changed, maybe the life you thought you'd be living looks very different than the one you're living now.
Information can be helpful.
But what we often need amidst life's deepest transformations is someone who understands.
Someone who can look at us and say:
"I've been there too, and we are going to figure this out together"

One of the things I loved most about this conversation with Tovara was her willingness to talk honestly about the parts of transformation we don't often see.
Not the polished version or the before-and-after photo.
The real version.
The messy middle.
Growing up in the Midwest, Tovara was active from an early age.
A college weightlifting class sparked a love of strength training that eventually led her into personal training, yoga instruction, nutrition coaching, and years of studying health and human behavior.
From the outside, it might look like a straightforward journey.
But like many women, her path included unexpected turns.
She shared openly about significant weight gain during COVID, which so many of us can relate to.
The emotional impact of seeing her body change.
The challenges of navigating major medical issues, including years of living with uterine fibroids that eventually grew to the size of a small cantaloupe.
And perhaps most importantly, she shared what it feels like to continue supporting others while still navigating her own journey.
At one point she said:
"I live in a larger-sized body right now, and I'm still on my own weight-loss journey."
I found that incredibly refreshing.
Because so many people secretly believe they need to be finished before they're worthy.
Finished healing.
Finished growing.
Finished transforming.
Finished becoming.
But life doesn't work that way.
Becoming is a lifelong practice.

The conversation eventually moved beyond physical health and into something many of us know intimately.
Anxiety, fear and hyper vigilance.
The feeling of always waiting for something bad to happen.
Tovara shared her experience of spending years living with her shoulders practically up around her ears—constantly bracing for the next challenge.
A season of scanning, preparing and anticipating.
For many women, that state becomes so familiar that we stop recognizing it.
We simply call it normal.
But over time, living in a constant state of protection can become exhausting.
It impacts our energy, our relationships, our health and our ability to trust ourselves.
Today, Tovara is navigating the process of weaning off SSRIs while simultaneously deepening her relationship with her body, her emotions, and her own inner wisdom.
Not because she's seeking perfection.
But because she's committed to understanding herself more deeply.
And I think many of us can relate to that.
What makes Tovara such a valuable coach isn't simply her credentials.
And it isn't simply her life experience.
To me, it's the combination of both.
Over the years, she has built a strong foundation through professional education and practical coaching experience, including personal training certifications, studies through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), becoming a NASM Certified Nutrition Practitioner, and years of helping people reconnect with their health through movement, nutrition, and lifestyle practices.
Today, she brings those skills into her work as a Green Door Life coach, where she helps clients apply our unique methodology that integrates:
• Nutrition
• Movement
• Mindset
• Lifestyle Habits
• Life Transformation
Because lasting change rarely happens through a meal plan alone.
Real transformation happens when we begin addressing the whole person.
The body, mind, emotions, stories we've carried, habits we've practiced and the future we're trying to create.

One thing that makes The Green Door Life so special is that our coaches aren't people who avoided struggle.
They're people who walked through it.
Some came from fitness backgrounds.
Some came from corporate careers.
Some arrived through personal healing journeys.
Others found their way here after years of searching for a more meaningful way to support people.
What they all share is resilience.
They've learned how to navigate uncertainty.
They've reinvented themselves.
They've questioned who they are.
They've rebuilt.
And through those experiences they've developed something far more valuable than information:
They've developed perspective, compassion and perhaps most important of all, empathy.
The ability to sit beside another human being and say:
"I understand."
Not because they studied it—although sometimes that might also be true—but because they've lived it.
That embodied wisdom is what they bring to the table.
And in many ways, it's what makes great coaching possible.

If you've ever felt like you're behind...
If you've ever looked in the mirror and wondered where the old version of yourself went...
If you've ever felt caught between who you've been and who you're becoming...
I think you'll find something meaningful in this conversation.
Tovara's story is a beautiful reminder that transformation isn't a destination.
It's a lifelong practice.
And sometimes the people who help us most aren't the ones standing at the finish line.
They're the ones walking the path right beside us.
