The downside of long-term intermittent fasting

Many of us are familiar with the concept of intermittent fasting, and while it can be effective for some in the short term at the right times, it’s important to recognize the potential downside of relying on this practice long-term, especially when applied first thing in the morning.

Humans are MOST insulin sensitive —able to digest food the best— in the morning and while the sun is up. So, skipping food is not a good idea for most people during this time.

As our client and friend Connor Pritchard shares in his conversation with us on the Elevated Frequency Podcast, his experience with fasting led to a cycle of energy crashes and disrupted sleep.

He would drink coffee all day, push through until 2pm without eating, then finally eat a large meal—only to fall into a food coma and feel lethargic for hours, leaving him struggling to sleep at night. The next day, he’d wake up and repeat the cycle.

Sound familiar?

This kind of lifestyle may seem efficient, but over time it can create an unstable energy pattern, resulting in mood swings, fatigue, and difficulty maintaining a balanced, healthy routine.

Connor’s story highlights how listening to your body, balancing your nutrition, and cultivating sustainable habits can break these cycles for good.

We are beyond thrilled to share the insights and experience of Connor Pritchard, a remarkable man whose journey through Awaken Your Nutrition embodies transformation and the power of embracing sustainable change.

As you’ll hear in the full podcast episode, Connor’s path wasn’t just about losing weight or following a meal plan—it was about recalibrating his life, redefining his identity, and re-establishing a connection with his body.

Coming from a demanding career in Hollywood, Connor was no stranger to high-pressure environments. But when burnout and exhaustion took their toll, he knew it was time for a shift.

The Moment of Realization

The turning point came when his wife, in a playful yet honest moment, called attention to his health. What followed was a series of profound realizations about his life choices, particularly around his nutrition and overall well-being.

His story reflects something we see often: a life shaped by external pressures, leading to imbalanced habits that eventually affect our health.

Connor described his experience as a man caught in cycles of addiction—not to substances, but to the hustle.

This addiction wasn’t easy to spot, but it became apparent as he recognized his unrelenting pursuit of career achievements, no matter the personal cost.

The relentless grind led to poor eating habits, lack of self-care, and a sense of being stuck.

A New Chapter: Awaken Your Nutrition

When Connor enrolled in the Awaken Your Nutrition Men’s Program, he knew the shift was going to be hard—but he didn’t expect it to be this transformative.

He embraced the data-driven approach, initially met with some hesitation but soon realized it was the key to understanding his body’s unique needs.

Week by week, he uncovered the tools for building a sustainable, holistic routine—one that balanced family, career, and self-care.

What struck Connor most about the program wasn’t just the science of nutrition or fitness—it was the sense of community.

Through a supportive group of like-minded men, Connor found the accountability and camaraderie that helped him stay on track.

As he began implementing what he learned, he discovered how empowering it felt to understand his body and how it responded to nutrition, movement, and rest.

Perhaps one of the most inspiring aspects of Connor’s journey is the ripple effect it had on his family.

By taking charge of his health, Connor became a role model for his wife and daughter, bringing intention to every meal and choice.

The lessons learned in the program didn’t just transform him—they helped him become a more conscious, engaged partner and father.

As he shared with us, “The kitchen is now my domain, and it feels powerful to take responsibility for what goes into our family’s body.”

It’s not just about nutrition; it’s about understanding energy, prioritizing health, and taking control of one’s life.

And as Connor puts it, “Everything starts with food. It’s the new hunting.”

When we nourish ourselves well, we become better versions of ourselves, able to show up more fully in our relationships and work.

Connor’s story serves as a powerful reminder that transformation isn’t about perfection; it’s about taking small steps to reset our bodies and minds, learning what works for us, and embracing the data that tells our unique story.

As he continues his journey, Connor now feels more attuned to his body, his needs, and his purpose.
