When ‘Protein’ Became Marketing, Not Meaning

Uncategorized Oct 21, 2026

I did something I almost never do…

I went to Target the other day with my sons 🫣

Y'all know I don't go to big box stores, like, ever.
I should have stock in Instacart at this point.

Between the obnoxious cortisol-spiking artificial lights and the unconscious heads-down humans glued to their phones while operating objects on wheels, I rarely put myself in those situations.

But this was my once-a-year secular pilgrimage that I'm now finding quite enjoyable because I'm not impulsively buying but rather collecting data on human behavior (nerd alert!) and analyzing the latest food marketing trends.

And by the time we got to the food section on our way to checkout, we could not believe our eyes.

In fact my sons — the next generation of Green Door Life educated experts who know more about nutrition and exercise science than I ever did at their age and have been coaching their classmates and teachers for years about balanced meals, sleep quality, and light hygiene — were the ones to p...

31% of Our Community Shared Expressing Their Own Needs is One of The Hardest Things in Relationships

Uncategorized Oct 21, 2026

Dear Community

Last week, we introduced the eight belonging archetypes — and so many of you wrote back. You shared which ones resonated, which ones surprised you, and which ones you sent to someone you love because it explained something you'd never had words for before.

That is exactly what this work is for.

This week, we're going deeper. Not just naming the archetypes — but beginning to understand how they move, how they interact, and how to start working with them consciously rather than being quietly driven by them.

Belonging archetypes are not flaws. They are strategies. And every strategy has a season.

The invitation here isn't to dismantle what your nervous system built. It's to become curious about it. To ask: Is this still serving me? Or is it running on an old script?

Nearly 3 in 4 people in this community are carrying Care or Control strategies as their primary belonging pattern. The Pleaser and Achiever together account for 73.8% of results — which tells us so...

Over 100 of You Took the Belonging Quiz - Here is What We Discovered.

Uncategorized Oct 21, 2026

The Quiz Results Are In.
Here's What We're Learning Together.

Hi GDL Fam!

Something remarkable happened this week. In just seven days, over 100 of you took the Belonging Blueprint Archetype Quiz — and many of you didn't stop there. You sent it to your siblings, your partners, your best friends, your parent. You wanted to see how the archetypes interact between people you love.

And that, in itself, is one of the most telling things about this work.

We are wired for belonging — even in our curiosity about it.

So whether you took the quiz and are sitting with your results, or you haven't had a chance yet — this is your invitation to go a little deeper.

What Your Belonging Archetype Actually Is

Your belonging archetype isn't a personality type. It isn't a label. And it certainly isn't a flaw.

It is the strategy your nervous system created — often very early in life — to answer one of the most primal questions a human being can ask:

How do I stay safe here?
How do I make mys

"Triggers are Treasures" - And your body has been keeping them safe for you

The Problem Most of Us Don't Know We Have

Good Morning Green Door Life Community <3

Thank you as always for taking the time to drop into this newsletter. We appreciate your time and every single message that we receive.

Inside of The Green Door Life, we hold containers for individuals moving through transformation. Through transition. Through the deep, quiet work of learning to listen — to their own bodies, their own awareness, their own mechanisms of choice.

And in all of that work, one truth keeps rising to the surface. A truth my beloved mentor,  , has shared with me again and again until the day I finally experienced it in my body.

"Triggers are Treasures"

So many of us have grown up learning from the media, from our parents, from our peers, from the world — who we are., who we should be, how we should act, what we need to do in order to belong.

These patterns don't always announce themselves. They live quietly underneath the surface. Dormant. Until they're not.

They ex...

The Victorian House That Taught Me About Belonging

Uncategorized Oct 21, 2026

Hello Dear Community,

I, Shannon,  grew up in a four story Victorian home in Marin County, just outside of San Francisco. But it wasn’t just my parents and siblings living there.

My parents rented out different floors and rooms of the house, which meant our home was constantly filled with people who were passing through a transition in their lives.

At any given time there might be a nun living upstairs, a gay ballet dancer rehearsing in the living room, an airline stewardess working night routes, a photographer developing film in the basement, or a chef experimenting with recipes in our kitchen. The house often smelled like incense, coffee, and whatever someone happened to be cooking that night.

To an outsider it might have looked like a strange little commune.

But in reality it functioned more like a boarding home for individuals who needed a place to land while life was shifting.

Over the years our home welcomed an extraordinary mix of people.

  • Nuns.

  • Gay ballet danc

The Surprising Things 102 Women Discovered in 5 Weeks

Uncategorized Oct 21, 2026

Last Friday, 102 women graduated from Awaken Foundations,

And their feedback has brought me to tears in full gratitude, so I just have to share why this is monumental...

My intention was simple in offering this new 4-week program.
(Well, technically 5 weeks. We always include a hormone-friendly, stress-free "week 0 onboarding" in all our offers because who wants to be rushed?)

I wanted to create a space where women could slow down, take a breath, and come back to the fundamentals of how the female body actually works.

Because the modern world of health — even "holistic" wellness — has become… exhausting.
So many rules.
And supplements.
So many fears.
And "optimization" gadgets.
Endless conflicting information with zero nuance and 3 seconds to comprehend.

And so many quietly wondering:
Am I doing something wrong?

Rightly so, they doubted that simple shifts could create big change.
They thought they were uniquely stuck with low energy and excess body fat.

But over the past five weeks,...

Sourdough Discard Granola

Servings: 6 | Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 40 min

For the Sourdough Lovers 🍞

If you've been keeping a sourdough starter, you already know the rhythm — feed it, watch it rise, bake with it, and then find yourself staring at that leftover discard wondering what to do next. Bread is obvious. Pancakes are a classic. But granola? That's where things get really fun. Sourdough discard brings a subtle tang and a gentle fermented depth to this granola that you simply can't get from anything else. It binds everything together beautifully, adds a layer of complexity to every bite, and honestly feels like the most satisfying way to honor every last bit of your starter. Nothing wasted, everything delicious. This one is for you.

For Everyone Else 🌿

Making granola at home is one of those things that feels fancy but is honestly so simple — and once you start, you'll never go back to store-bought. This recipe is a great way to use up your sourdough discard, but do...

My mom is in town right now, which means two things:

1) More laughter and girl time, especially when we’re cooking and doing the most mundane chores (what could be better??!)

2) Someone watching me work in real time

The other day we were sitting at my kitchen table, laptops open, having a very real conversation about her health trajectory over the next few decades.

Spoiler alert: I am actively campaigning for her and my dad to move to Texas, like... down the street. I want my mom to be the next Train With Joan story:

If there is one Instagram account worth following, it is Joan. With the steady support of her daughter, who is her nutrition and fitness coach, Joan radically transformed her health, body composition, and lifespan in her 70s.

This did not happen in a few weeks.
It did not happen in a few months.
It has been years.
YEARS of consistency with the basics that matter:

Progressive strength training and lots of walking.
Adequate protein.
Structured meals (not skipping an...

Does your body feel like an endless DIY project?

Uncategorized Oct 21, 2026

For over a decade, the wellness space has rewarded the loudest voice, the most extreme claim, and the most polarizing take.

And in many ways, the industry has largely capitalized on women... women who genuinely want to protect themselves, protect their families, and make informed, responsible choices.

This has unfolded during a time of collective distrust, confusion, and a deep undercurrent of not feeling safe.

But when women do not feel safe — in their bodies, in their homes, in their health decisions — society suffers as a collective.

Yet consumerism continues. Because the algorithm does not reward nuance.

It rewards extremism. Urgency. Fear. And fear sells.

Fear of oxalates. Vegetables. Nightshades. Lectins.
Fear of red meat. Cow farts. Deli meat. Nitrates. Nitrites.
Wait, those were correlation studies, not causation.
Oops, it takes 50 years to reverse public opinion.

Fear of carbs. Gluten. Leaky gut. Seed oils.
You need protein. More. Even more. Now there's protein in everythi...
